Imagine that!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/82bc48d6-55f8-11ed-a03e-f7ac672386f7?shareToken=39d456a1b89d7e5beccaa1f8e1d7ae2b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a> goes on to state: &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>&#8220;The Garzweiler II mine is expected to yield about 190 million tonnes of lignite, a relatively dirty fuel also known as brown coal, even though the government says it hopes \u201cideally\u201d to phase out coal power by the end of the decade. The case illustrates Germany\u2019s predicament as it struggles to reconcile the conflicting imperatives of its energy policy.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How long will it be until the Scottish government realises that Energy Policy isn&#8217;t about greenwashing and independence populism and starts to do what is actually best for the environment, the economy and the people of Scotland.  Quite a while if their latest announcement is to be taken seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local fishmonger and self identifying climate scientist, Bob Felcher commented, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>&#8220;This a great move by the Germans actually. What they are probably going to do is take the opportunity to relocate the wind turbines to windier more appropriate spots &#8230; The displaced villagers from the hamlets that are been dismantled to make extra space for the development will almost certainly be able to get jobs in the new open cast mine, so it&#8217;s a win-win situation for the local economy and the planet.  I also think the German&#8217;s will probably give the Chinese a call to let them know they are opening up a new coal mine in Germany so that the Chinese will be able to cancel one of theirs.
