A &#8220;stalking horse&#8221; which is very likely to change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:40% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"638\" src=\"https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/stalking_horse-1024x638.jpg\" alt=\"Stalking Horse\" class=\"wp-image-260 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/stalking_horse-1024x638.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/stalking_horse-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/stalking_horse-768x478.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/stalking_horse-1536x957.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/stalking_horse.jpg 1599w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe the developers will decide on slightly smaller turbines? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe they will reduce the number of turbines? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe the locations will be changed slightly?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will not know until the &#8220;Design, development and refinement&#8221; phase of the project is completed and submitted to planning. But it seems clear that nothing is currently set in stone and to get too focussed on the current scope would be improvident.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One area where much interest was directed on the day was the Landscape Architect table where computer based line drawings (black and white representations) of the view from specific grid references were being produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I took a photograph of the expected view from my living room window which I&#8217;ve included below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"584\" src=\"https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_4179-1024x584.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_4179-1024x584.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_4179-300x171.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_4179-768x438.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_4179-1536x876.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/hilloffare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_4179-2048x1169.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The image at the top of this post is an enlargement of a section of one of the landscape representations provided by RES at the exhibition.  It starts to give a feeling for the monolithic nature of this size of turbine.  But as I say, it is very possible that RES will select &#8220;slightly&#8221; smaller wind turbines for the final design to take on to the planning stage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reason I say this again is that I felt that people were being almost encouraged by the RES representatives to return comments sheets with statements like &#8220;I feel the turbines are too big or too close together, or there are too many&#8221;.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This encouragement from RES seemed to support the stalking horse theory, i.e. that the actual expectations of the developers are already lower than the design basis of the scoping study; and if any objections could be limited to &#8216;size&#8217;, &#8216;spacing&#8217; and &#8216;numbers&#8217; then these issues could be easily addressed while staying within the original &#8220;true&#8221; design intent.
